Abstract: THE UNITED STATES HOUSING ACT OF 1937, AS AMENDED, AUTHORIZES HUD TO ASSIST PUBLIC HOUSING AGENCIES (PHA'S) AND INDIAN HOUSING AUTHORITIES (IHA'S) IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND REHABILITATION OF LOWER INCOME HOUSING. THE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS OBTAINED BY THE PHA/IHA SUBMITTING TO HUD AN APPROVED REQUISITION FOR DEVELOPMENT AND MODERNIZATION FUNDS (HUD-5402A).
