Abstract: THE BLS SURVEY OF EMPLOYER LAYOFF AND RECALL PRACTICES IS A ONE-TIME RETROSPECTIVE SURVEY OF LAYOFF AND RECALL ACTIVITIES IN ESTABLISHMENTS HAVING A SINGLE-EVENT LAYOFF OF AT LEAST 50 WORKERS FROM JULY THROUGH DECEMBER 1988 IN 42 STATES. THE FINDINGS WILL ADDRESS ISSUES OF WORKE DISLOCATION AND REEMPLOYMENT STRATEGIES.
