Abstract: AMENDMENTS TO THE MARINE MAMMAL PROTECTION ACT REQUIRE COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN TO REPORT ALL TAKINGS OF MARINE MAMMALS DURING FISHING OPERATIONS. SOME FISHERMEN ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN LOGS, AND SUBMIT NEGATIVE REPORT. THE INFORMATION IS NEEDED TO DETERMINE THE IMPACTS OF COMMERCIAL FISHING ON MARINE MAMMAL POPULATIONS.
