revisions of 8 CFR part 208 -- Asylum Procedures - on July 27,
1990. (55 FR 30674). The Department noted in the preamble to this
regulation that several commentors had suggested a substantial
overhaul of the form and content of the I-589. Accordingl the
Department indicated that it would undertake to revise the form,
taking into account the revised asylum procedures and to improve
its practical utility for processing asylum applications and to
reduce the processing burden on the government as well as the
burden on applicant
