We have approved
the HUD "Inspection Form: Section 8 Existing Housing Program" with
the condition that both the long form (HUD 52580A) and short form
(HUD-52580) include the required public reporting burden disclosure
in the next printing. HUD has clarified its statutory requirement
to inspect PHAs, as stated in the Housing and Urban Rural Recovery
Act of 1983 Section 7(6)(A). HUD's need for special amenities
information has been explained. The information is used as a basis
for setting and negotiating comparable rates. HUD must resubmit
this information collection if lead-based paint instructions are
finalized before the expiration date of this form.
