Abstract: THE BANK SECRECY ACT, P.L. 90-508 (COFIFIED AT 12 USC 1829B, 12 USC 19 ET SEQ. AND 31 USC 5311-5326) AUTHORIZES THE SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY TO REQUIRE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS TO KEEP RECORDS AND FILE REPORTS THAT THE SECRETARY DETERMINES HAVE A HIGH DEGREE OF USEFULNESS IN CRIMINAL, TAX, AND REGULATORY MATTERS.
