Abstract: FORM 6248 IS USED BY PURCHASERS OF DOMESTIC CRUDE OIL TO INFORM THE PRODUCERS OF CRUDE OIL THE AMOUNT OF WINDFALL TAX THAT WAS PAID WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCER'S INTEREST. THE IRS USES FORM 6248 TO DETERMIN IF THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF WINDFALL PROFIT TAX WAS PAID WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCER'S INTEREST.
