Abstract: THIS IS THE FIRST STUDY EXAMINING ACCESS TO EQUITY CAPITAL BY OWNERS OF SMALL AND MINORITY-OWNED BUSINESSES. THE RESEARCH METHOD WILL GENERATE QUANTITATIVE DATA FROM A NATIONAL MAIL SURVEY TO BE INTEGRATED WITH SECONDARY DATA. RESEARCH WILL ASCERTAIN THE TYPES, INCIDENCE, BARRIERS, SUBSTITUTIONS, AND COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ACQUIRING ADEQUATE BUSINESS EQUITY CAPITAL.
