Abstract: 30 CFR ALLOWS COAL MINING COMPANIES TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION THAT DEMONSTRATES IT MEETS THE DEFINITION OF VALID EXISTING RIGHTS (VER) TO MINE COAL IN AN AREA PROHIBITED BY THE SURFACE MINING CONTROL AND RECLAMATION ACT OF 1977 (SMCRA). OSM WILL USE THE INFORMATION IN MAKI A VER DETERMINATION.
