Abstract: THE VITAL STATUS LETTER IS SENT TO MEMBERS OF RETROSPECTIVE STUDIES TO DETERMINE IF AN EMPLOYEE WHO WAS EXPOSED TO A TOXIC SUBSTANCE IN THE WORKPLACE THAT IS SUSPECTED OF CAUSING LONG TERM ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS IS DECEASED OR ALIVE. THIS LETTER IS USED AS A LAST RESORT, AFTER ALL OTHER METHODS HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED.
