Terms of Clearance: Approved as amended by NEA's memorandum of 9/27/91. In addition, NEA has agreed to incorporate a test of data quality designed by the Burea of Justice Statistics, which administers this survey along with its National Crime Survey, to determine whether responses about art are biased in any way because they follow responses about crime. This tes will be administered to a small portion of the sample as part of the upcoming SPPA.

Abstract: THE SPPA WILL PROVIDE MEASURES OF PARTICIPATION IN THE ARTS FOR VARIOU SUBGROUPS OF THE POPULATION, DATA ON THE EXTENT OF LIVE PARTICIPATION VERSUS THROUGH THE MEDIA (TV OR RADIO), INFORMATION ON FUTURE DEMAND FOR ARTS PARTICIPATION, AND DATA ON CURRENT AND PRIOR TRAINING IN THE ARTS.
