Abstract: TO ENCOURAGE SMALL POWER PRODUCTION AND COGENERATION, THE PUBLIC UTILITIES REGULATORY POLICIES ACT OF 1978 CONFERS CERTAIN BENEFITS ON SMALL POWER PRODUCTION AND COGENERATION FACILITIES THAT MEET PARTICULAR OWNERSHIP AND TECHNICAL CRITERIA. FERC-556 SPECIFIES THE CRITERIA THAT MUST BE MET AND THE PROCESS BY WHICH SUCH BENEFITS MAY BE OBTAINED.
