Terms of Clearance: This information collection is approved through 1/94 with the changes to the instrument agreed upon 7/28/92, and with the following conditio Pursuant to the guidelines specified in 5 CFR 1320.6 (e), ACF shall no provide remuneration to respondents in the Police Department Sample an the Shelter Sample. ACF has not demonstrated a substantial need for payment to the populations in these samples. Remuneration in kind is acceptable in the Street Survey, and a cash payment of $5 - $10 dollar is acceptable in the Drug Validation survey due to the unusual circumstances surrounding these surveys.

Abstract: THIS STUDY WILL BE USED TO DESCRIBE THE CAUSES, EXTENT, AND CONSEQUENC OF DRUG USE AMONG RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE STUDY WILL INCLUDE BOTH INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILIAR FACTORS ASSOCIATED WIT DRUG USE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES. IT WILL ALSO INCLUDE ESTIMATES OF THE YOUTHS' USE OF DRUGS BOTH PRIOR AND SUBSEQUENT TO THEIR LEAVING HOME.
