Abstract: THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE (NCI) HAS DESIGNED THE COMMUNITY INTERVENTION TRIAL FOR SMOKING CESSATION (COMMIT). THIS LARGE-SCALE TRIAL WILL TEST COMMUNITY-BASED STRATEGIES TO PRODUCE LONG-TERM CESSATION AMONG SMOKERS, PARTICULARLY HEAVY SMOKERS.
