Existing
information collections currently in effect are approved for three
years until August 31, 1995. However, proposed modifications fo
overfill devices are not approved until sufficient justification is
made at the final rule stage. (See note of August 5, 1992, to
Departmental Clearance Officer.) The justification should be
submitte to OMB with an inventory correction worksheet which, upon
approval, would make the additional collections effective. The
Department was also asked to explain why the information collection
request showed a burden in the existing base of 320,000 hours (for
one-time vapor recovery plans) which our records show was never
approved. Please provide an explanation of the status of such
plans. As required in previous terms of clearance (May 8, 1990),
justification and approval through a correction worksheet must be
obtained before such requiremen go into effect.
