This information
collection is approved for use through June 30, 1994. The approval
is contingent on the Department ensuring that the tables and
instructions are consistent with the final CHAS regulation
published on September 1, 1992. For example, States are not
required to present needs and market inventory data beyond that
required by HUD Some other changes to be consistent with the final
rules: 1) the assessment of environmental hazards is optional for
both States and localities; 2) for homeless individuals and
families with children, the State must provide a brief inventory of
facilities and services; and 3) the State must describe, to the
extent information is available, the facilities and services that
assist non-homeless persons with special needs. In its next
submission, HUD will include a summary of comments receive on the
forms and instructions and any changes based on those comments. In
addition, HUD will continue to re-evaluate the burden and costs
associated with the development of the CHAS based on two additional
years of experience.
