Abstract: PERSONS WISHING TO ALTER THE DESIGN OF A COAST GUARD-APPROVED MARINE PORTABLE TANK OR TO MANUFACTURE A PORTABLE TANK FOR COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID THAT DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE REGULATIONS MUST FIRST OBTAIN THE APPROVA OF THE COAST GUARD. THIS IS TO PRECLUDE THE USE OF UNSAFE AND NON-STANDARD TANKS WHILE ALLOWING FOR INNOVATION AND NEW TANK DESIGNS.
