Abstract: THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE (NCI) HAS INITIATED THE COMMUNITY INTERVENTION TRIAL FOR SMOKING CESSATION (COMMIT). THIS LARGE-SCALE TRIAL WILL TEST COMMUNITY-BASED STRATEGIES TO PRODUCE CESSATION IN IN SMOKERS, PARTICULARLY HEAVY SMOKERS. CLEARANCE IS REQUESTED FOR TH FINAL PREVALENCE SURVEY AND THE COTININE VALIDATION STUDY OF REPORTED QUITTERS.
