Terms of Clearance: Approved as amended by NSF's 11/2/93 memoranda to OMB. In addition, N shall meet the following conditions: -- NSF will implement a pilot test for electronic reporting of this survey as soon as possible. The automated survey option will be made available to universities as part of the fall 1994 survey mail-out. N shall report progress on this option to OMB prior to implementation. -- NSF will continue discussions with the Council of Graduate Schools on creating a single survey to replace both the Council's survey and this NSF instrument. Any changes proposed for this instrument as a result of coordination with the Council shall be submitted for PRA review. If no such submission is made prior to the expiration date of this survey (11/96), NSF shall include with its next clearance package an explanation of why a single survey has not yet been developed. -- If asked to do so for comparison with other Federal statistical databases, NSF shall code responses of "other" for the race/ethnicity questions into one of the standard categories pursuant to OMB Directiv 15.
