OMB does not
approve OPM's addition of questions regarding race and handicapping
conditions of applicants for this program. OPM has not demonstrated
the particular need for this data for this program only and not
other applications for Federal employment made to OPM or other
Federal agencies. Of particular concern is the intrusive nature of
th questions on handicapping conditions that OPM would pose to
applicants for employment in this program. OPM, EEOC and OMB are
currently discussing possible standardized approaches to the
collection of data race and handicapping condition of applicants
for employment made to Federal agencies. OMB will notify OPM when a
standard approach is that can be utilized by the PMI program.
