Abstract: THE PROMULGATION OF THE FINAL RULE WILL REQUIRE RESEARCHERS TO SUBMIT THE EPA A NOTIFICATION PRIOR TO THE INITIATION OF SMALL-SCALE (LESS TH 10 ACRES OF LAND OR 1 SURFACE ACRE OF WATER) ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING WIT GENETICALLY MODIFIED MICROBIAL PESTICIDES. ABOVE THESE LIMITS; I.E., LARGE-SCALE TESTING, AN EXPERIMENTAL USE PERMIT (EUP) IS REQUIRED, THE BURDEN OF WHICH IS COVERED UNDER ICR 2070-0040.
