OF THE FEBRUARY SUPPLEMENT WILL BE SUBMITTED DURING JANUARY 1995.

A DETAILED REPORT ON THE COLLECTION OF THE SUPPLEMENT, WITH
EMPHASIS ON QUESTIONS AND OTHER FACTORS THAT DID NOT PERFORM AS
EXPECTED. ALSO, IN RECOGNITION OF THE LACK OF A CLEAR DEFINITION OF
CONTINGENT WORK, IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT BLS WILL PRESENT DATA IN A
WAY MAKING IT CLEAR THAT THERE MAY BE CREDIBLE ALTERNATIVE
DEFINITIONS OF CONTINGENT WORK.

THERE IS A BELIEF THAT EMPLOYMENT
ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BECOME MORE CONTINGENT, FORCING WORKERS INTO JOBS
OFFERING POOR SECURITY AND COMPENSATION. NO CURRENT SURVEY PROVIDES
THE INFORMATION NEEDED FOR THIS ISSUE. THE CPS SUPPLEMENT WOULD
MEASURE FOR THE FIRST TIME THE EXENT AND NATURE OF CONTINGENT
WORK.
