notes the limitations of this study, the findings of which will
only be representative of the programs studied and not of the
general population of teacher enhancement programs; this caveat
shall appear along with any publicly released reports or analysis
resulting from the study. In addition, NSF has agreed to meet the
following conditions: -- NSF shall add at least three sites to the
site visit component that did not exhibit characteristics
determined to be "best practice" based on NSF's review of the
relevant literature. This will allow NSF to compare findings from
"best practice" sites with other sites, in order to develop
hypotheses about whether such characteristics are associated with
improved outcomes for teachers and -- most importantly -- for
student learning. These hypotheses will be tested in the future,

THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY IS TO OBTAIN
DATA ON THE IMPACTS OF TEACHER ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMS (TEPS) ON
TEACHERS' APPROACHES TO SCIENCE EDUCATION. THE DATA WILL PROVIDE A
DESCRIPTION OF TEACHERS' EXPERIENC IN 34 TEPS AND THE IMPACT OF
THESE EXPERIENCES ON THEIR TEACHING. THE SURVEY WILL ASSESS IMPACT
FROM THE TEACHERS' PERSPECTIVES USING A QUESTIONNAIRE AND TEACHER
LOGS.
