Terms of Clearance: This clearance is approved according to the Paperwork Reduction Act and 5 USC 1320 through June 1996. In the second, third, and fourth interviews, the introductory statements and the reference dates for reporting trips 75 miles or more need to be adopted to be made appropriate. These wording adoptations must be submitted to OMB by March 1995.

Abstract: THE PURPOSE OF THE ATS IS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ABOUT THE DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL TRIPS TAKEN BY PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES TO PLAN FOR FUTURE TRANSPORTATION NEEDS AND TRAVEL SERVICES. THE DOT, OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, AND BUSINESSES WILL USE THE DATA TO IMPROVE OUR NATION'S TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS.
