THE LACK OF NATIONALLY REPRESENTATIVE
INFORMATION ON THE PROVISION AND INTENSITY OF TRAINING, THE
RELIANCE ON FORMAL VERSUS ON-THE-JOB TRAINI METHODS OF TRAINING
DELIVERY, AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THESE MEASURES AND THE
CHARACTERISTICS OF ESTABLISHMENTS IS A SERIOUS HANDIC TO THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF EFFECTIVE PUBLIC POLICY. BLS PROPOSES TO DEVELOP
A SURVEY OF ESTABLISHMENTS AND EMPLOYEES TO COLLECT SUCH
INFORMATION AND WILL REPORT ON THE PROVISION AND INTENSITY OF
TRAINING BY INDUSTRY AND SIZE OF ESTABLISHMENT.

the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
