Terms of Clearance: Approved with the understanding that the Department will forward a copy of regulatory Section 178.130(a)(2) (page 37) listing optional information to be requested. The page requested will replace the page 37 erroneously submitted 2/12/95. The replacement page will not list race as a data element. This approval also includes the February 10, 1995 version of Form 5300.35 which requests the alien registration number. The Department should submit an Inventory Correction Worksheet to correct the number of respondents and responses consistent with item 13 of the narrative justification. Item 13 explains the adjustment of -22868 as being due solely to a decrease in the number of licensees and permittees.

Abstract: THIS FORM IS USED TO ESTABLISH THE ELIGIBILITY OF THE BUYER AND TO DETERMINE IF A HANDGUN SALE IS LEGAL PRIOR TO THE ACTUAL DELIVERY OF THE HANDGUN. IT BECOMES PART OF THE DEALER'S RECORDS AND IS USED BY CRIMINAL ENFORCEMENT IN INVESTIGATIONS INSPECTIONS TO TRACE FIREARMS OR TO CONFIRM CRIMINAL ACTIVITY OF PERSONS WHO HAVE VIOLATED THE GUN CONTROL ACT.
