Abstract: THE NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT REQUIRES LICENSE IMPORTERS AND MANUFACTURERS TO NOTIFY ATF WHEN FIREARMS ARE IMPORTED OR MANUFACTURED. THIS ACTION REGISTERS THE FIREARMS IN THE NATIONAL FIREARMS REGISTRATION AND TRANSFER RECORD AND MAKES THEIR POSSESSION OF THE FIREARMS LAWFUL. TAX OTHERWISE DUE UNDER 26 U.S.C. 5821 DOES NOT APPLY.
