Terms of Clearance: Approved as amended by CNCS' 1/24/95 memorandum to OMB. In addition, CNCS has agreed to the reexamine the need for quarterly VISTA project progress reports, approved under OMB #3001-0093, since this annual project accomplishments survey will provide quantitative data on activities of VISTA projects. CNCS will 1) eliminate the quarterly progress reports altogether; 2) revise and streamline the reports to obtain only the information necessary and useful for project management, if possible on a less frequent basis than quarterly; and 3) provide a sufficient justification for why the reports should remain as they are and remain consistent with the PRA criteria regarding, burden, duplication and utility. CNCS shall make the necessary revisions or justifications as soon as possible, but no later than the first due date for quarterly reports following the implementation of this project accomplishments survey. -- In addition, CNCS shall ensure that the forthcoming VISTA triennial evaluation does not duplicate information collected in this survey.

Abstract: THIS SURVEY MEETS THE LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENT UNDER P.L. 103-82 TO PROVIDE CONGRESS WITH AN ANNUAL SUMMARY OF AMERICORPS*VISTA PROJECT ACCOMPLISHMENTS. IT ALSO IS A COMPONENT OF THE TRIENNIAL EVALUATION OF AMERICORPS*VISTA PROJECTS REQUIRED UNDER P.L. 93-113. RESPONDENTS ARE APPROXIMATELY 750 AMERICORPS*VISTA PROJECT DIRECTORS. INFORMATION WILL BE REPORTED TO CONGRESS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND BE USED BY THE CORPORATION FOR PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT.
