Terms of Clearance: This collection is approved on a one-time basis. In the future, if ED continues to need accurate and comprehensive data of this nature, ED should either revise the annual evaluations to collect such information (through regulations if necessary), or ED may collect the information through program monitoring as it has suggested. However, if ED collects the data through monitoring, the Department must still come through OMB for clearance and account for the burden placed on grantees to report the informa- tion, assuming the information collected is uniform. Also, if ED collects the information through both annual evaluations and monitoring, ED must ensure that it is collecting the least amount of information possible to ensure program accountability and that the information collected through both reporting mechanisms is not duplicative.

Abstract: THIS VERIFICATION TASK IN CONTRACT #T292001001 WILL COLLECT INFORMATION ON ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT AND STUDENTS/PARTICIPANTS SERVED BY FY 1994 TITLE VII FUNDED PROJECTS. THE COLLECTION WILL PROVIDE DATA ON ACTUAL, AS OPPOSED TO PROPOSED, SERVICES PROVIDED. PROJECT DIRECTIONS FOR ALL FY 1994 A AND PART C TITLE VII FUNDED PROJECTS WILL BE CONTACTED BY TELEPHONE.
