of information is approved through April of 1998 on the
understanding that the questions dealing with electric motors and
the "Motor Challenge" program are one time only questions. These
questions are approved only for the first administration of the
survey under this approval. If EIA wishes to request this
information in a future MECS, it must submit a new statement to
justify such a collection.

EIA-846(A), (B), (C) WILL BE USED TO
COLLECT DATA ON ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RELATED SUBJECTS FOR THE
MANUFACTURING SECTOR OF THE U.S. ECONOMY. IN ADDITION TO BEING USED
FOR THE NATIONAL ENERGY MODELING SYSTEM, THE MECS WILL BE USED TO
AUGMENT A DATA BASE ON THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR. RESPONDENTS ARE
MANUFACTURING ESTABLISHMENTS.
