Although OMB is providing a three year clearance, SSA should
continue to monitor DDS collection activity and update the burden
estimates should commenters provide greater information on the time
it takes to complete the associated forms. As agreed to by the
agency, OMB is providing clearance for this collection only, and
not a "generic" clearance as originally requested.

The information collections are
conducted in support of disability programs. The information
collected from a consultative exam (CE) is used to make disability
determinations when the claimant's own medical sources cannot or
will not provide the information. The information collected from
potential CE providers is used to verify the provider's credentials
and licenses. The medical evidence of record (MER) information is
used to determine a person's physical and/or mental status prior to
