This ICR for the third party notification and certain other parts of the worker protection program is approved until 2/97. EPA shall seek public comment on the burden and cost estimates for this program as well as methodologies used. EPA should follow OMB guidance on calculating third party notification burdens at the time of renewal. Burden estimates reflect changes made on 9/29/95 to include third party burdens to employees. EPA will revise cost estimates based on $13 per hour wage rate.

EPA is responsible for the regulation of pesticides under the federal Insecticide. Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The Worker Protection Standard (WPS) requires agricultural employers to ensure that agricultural workers and pesticide handlers are trained in basic safety practices and informed via oral or writt- en notification about pesticide applications. Workers must also be informed when exceptions to early entry restriction apply.
