This information
colleciton is approved through 11/30/96. The information collection
package will expire at the same time as the Park Visitation Census
(1024-0036). This information collection package is cleared under
the same terms and conditions as docket number 1024-0036. However,
the procedures identified under Category II surveys can no longer
be used after October 1, 1995 when the new Paperwork Reduction Act
goes into effect. Over the next year, the National Park Service is
encouraged to review the Park Service survey process in order to
consolidate the Q-Cat and the Park Visitation Census, as well as
comply fully with the terms of the new Paperwork Reduction
Act.

One hundred seventy-seven questions
have been selected from agency surveys conducted in the last 20
years and rated for administrative time, variable measured, and
related subject area. The Q-Cat is an easy-to-use reference for
researchers to collect information comparable to other surveys and
a convenient tool for the OMB to quickly compare questions used to
collect information from visitors to NPS areas.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
