Abstract: The FBI's application for employment form, form FD-140, is used by the FBI to collect pertinent background information on all applicants for FBI positions. This form is used in lieu of the standard form 86 because all FBI employees have special sensitive positions and require top secret security clearances, and the FD-140 addresses suitability as well as security concerns beyond the scope of the SF-86.
