This pretest will assist BJS in determining whether the NCVS is an appropriate vehicle for implementing the annual data collection/reporting requirement set forth in Section 210402 of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. This statute requires the Attorney General to produce annual statistics on the use of excessive force by police nationwide.
