Abstract: Purchasers and pipeline companies negotiate with producers to rescind, terminate, limit, or otherwise modify gas sales contracts to settle disputes. Some settlements are made in lump sum payments. The Minerals Management Service must determine if these settlements are royalty bearing and if royalties have been paid.
