Abstract: IN THE 1988 DOD APPROPRIATIONS ACT, CONGRESS MANDATED THAT THE CHAMPUS HOME HEALTH CARE (HHC) DEMONSTRATION BE CONTINUED AND AUTHORIZED EXPANSION OF THE HOME HEALTH CARE DEMONSTRATION (HHC-CM). THE PURPOSE OF THE DEMONSTRATION IS TO PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEMONSTRATE THAT HHC AND HHC-CM CAN BE A COST-EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE TO HOSPITALIZATION. THE COLLECTION INSTRUMENT REQUESTS SPECIFIC DATA ON INPATIENT COSTS VERSUS HOME HEALTH CARE COSTS.
