This information
collection, as amended by the agency memorandum dated 09/04/96, is
approved for three years subject to the follow ing terms of
clearance: 1. Upon resubmission, the agency shall include in its
justificat ion a discussion of how the implementation of the UFDS
survey and the ADSS have been and will be further coordinated, and
how dupli cation between the instruments will be minimized. 2. The
agency shall respond to the needs of ONDCP for data pertaining to
substance abuse treatment in prisons and jails by conducting a
separate study.

ADSS Phase I will gather information
from a sample of 2,200 treatment programs nationwide, including
data on treatment type and costs, program capacity, number of
clients served, and services provided to special populations,
including pregnent women. ADSS will provide researchers,
policymakers, and providers with detailed national data on the
current substance abuse treatment delivery system and clients in
the system.
