Abstract: We use the survey to gather establishment level data from multiestablishment companies in the United States. These data are used for the updating and maintenance of the Standard Statistical Establishment List (SSEL). The SSEL provides a standard basis for assigning industrial classification codes of establishments engaged in all areas of economic activity and a single universe for the selection and maintenance of statistical samples of establishments, legal entities, or enterprises.
