(including the enclosed changes dated 10/22/96 made pursuant to

condition that it is resubmitted for OMB review upon finalization
of the OPTN rule governing organ allocation nationwide. Final rule
policies may have implications for the data necessary to: 1)
administer the OPTN network; and 2) to evaluate the impacts of
alternative allocation methodologies over time.

Information will be collected from
organ procurement organizations, histocompatability laboratories,
and transplant centers for the purpose of matching donor organs
with recipients, monitoring compliance of member organzations with
data system rules, conducting statistical analysis, and developing
policies relating to organ procurement and transplant.
