The survey will collect nonconstruction costs of private single-family houses. Example of nonconstruction costs of raw land and marketing. The Census Bureau will use these data to improve the existing estimation procedure that produces monthly estimates of the value of construction put-in-place (VIP). The Bureau of Economic Analysis uses the VIP data to estimate the residential investment component of gross domestic product (GDP). All respondents in the survey are builders of single-family houses.
