This collection
is approved under the following conditions: (1) FCS agrees to
include an analysis of student intake in the planned Program
Operations study to be conducted in the next year. To the extent
possible, upon completion of the Program Operations study, FCS
agrees to analyze and report on the impact of changes to the school
meals on student eating habits. (2) FCS agrees to add a limited
number of questions to this survey to guage the School Food Service
Manager impression of student reaction to changes in school meals.
FCS shall submit these questions for OMB review and approval prior
to proceeding further with this study. (3) Provided that FCS has a
sufficient sample size of schools using Nutrient Standard Menu
Planning (NSMP) and the original food-based meal patterns, FCS
agrees to analyze the differences between schools using the
different methods.

This study will examine the food and
nutrient composition of NSLP/SBP meals to determine progress
towards the 1995 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Findings will be
compared with findings from the 1992 SNDA study.
