DEP losses are a problem because it costs the Army millions of dollars each year. The purpose of the Army Enlisted Attrition Study (AEAS) is to examine recent trends associated with personnel turnover and determine the root causes of or factors related to turnover. This survey effort supports the AEAS by providing information regarding why contracted applicants don't enlist in the Army. This data will be used to design strategies to reduce DEP loss rate.
