Records are used in enforcement of the
AWA. Data are to ensure exhibitors, research facilities, carriers,
etc., are in compliance with the Act and regulations and standards
promulgated under this authority of the Act. Current regulations
define the minimum space requirements for marine mammal enclosures,
but there is no requirement to maintain documentation either at the
facility or by APHIS. Accurate information on the size of currently
existing enclosures is needed to guide the development of any new
regulations and standards for space requirements. The one-time
survey will be used to collect this information.
