This is a pretest for a population-based case-control study of risk factors for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in semi-rural Johnston County, North Carolina. Teachers in 18 classrooms will be asked to fill in brief behavior checklists on all the students in their class (about 18 students per class estimated to participate). We expect 63 of these children will be eligible as cases or controls for detailed parent interviews about the child's behavior at home, family history, and exposures to the mother during pregnancy. Shed baby teeth will be collected from these children to measure lead levels.
