The Asian long-horned beetle is a
destructive pest of hardwood trees, including apple, cherry, pear,
and citrus. The beetles bore into the hardwood of host trees,
eventually killing them. This rule restricts the movement of
regulated articles (such as nursery stock, green lumber, firewood,
and other items). This action is designed to prevent the spread of
the Asian long-horned beetle within the United States.
