to the following conditions: 1) ED will continue its consultation
with other programs within ED in order to ensure that information
collected in this approval request is not duplicated and is
collected in a useful way; 2) Specifically, ED will consult with
other programs (e.g., Golas 2000) in order to ensure that these
other programs are aware of the fact that OESE is collecting
assessment data, how they are collecting it, and what performance
indicators this data relate to; 3) In the next submission of this
approval request, ED will consider revising the method with which
assessment data is collected in order to better adapt to the
progress States make in developing their individual assessment
collection strategies; 4) ED will provide an 83-C to adjust the
burden estimate given the new Table F. Furthermore, a one year
clearance was given because ED has indicated that assessment data
collection strategies are currently in a transitional period.

The title 1 performance report
collects participation and achievement data annually from each
State. These data are used by ED for tracking trends, regular
charateristics, numbers, and achievement of students receiving
title 1 services and reporting this information to
Congress.
