The survey will obtain national estimates of high probability occurrences of elevated levels of radioactive materials in sludge and ash at publicly owned treatment works, estimate the extent to which radioactive contamination come from either NRC/Agreement States licenses or from naturally occurring radioactivity, and support possible rulemaking decisions by NRC and EPA.
