This is a population-based case-control study of risk factors for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in semi-rural Johnston County, North Carolina. Four hundred teachers will be asked to fill our brief behavior checklists on all students in their classes. We expect that 900 of these children will be eligible as cases or controls for detailed parent interviews about the child's behavior at home, family history, and exposures to the mother during pregnancy. Shed baby teeth will be collected in year 2 to measure lead levels. Buccal swabs will be collected from family members in year 2.
