The Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA90) required the development of vessel and facility response plans to minimize the impact of oils spills. OPA90 also required additional response requirements for Prince William Sound. Shipboard oil pollution emergency plans are required of other vessels to minimize impacts of oil spills.
